………………………………………..………………………….…06 INTRODUCTION The trafficking and use of narcotics by young people are the most worrying forms of crime in the world.

Nowadays, many young people give themselves up to the consumption of DRUGS.

And are victims of several diseases, accidents, traumas. Thus the theme of our presentation concerns drugs in the school environment.

Faced with this theme, we can ask ourselves these questions: What are drugs? What impact can it have on young people in the school environment? ENGLISH ORAL : THEME « DRUGS IN SCOOL» Page 2 I) DEFINITION The drug is a substance foreign to the body that is not used as food, but must be eliminated after undergoing structural changes in the cells.

It acts in very low doses, and its main target is the limbic brain.

When consumed excessively, it becomes toxic to the body. II) THE CAUSES OF DRUGS IN THE SCHOOL ENVIRONMENT A genetic cause may promote drug dependence in some individuals.

Family history thus has a real impact on the phenomenon of drug dependence.

Thus, one cannot speak of equal potentiality among individuals who are likely to become dependent on drugs. The environment of pupils and students also plays a decisive role in the phenomenon of drug addiction.

Family, friends… are the people who surround us on a daily basis. In the case of drug addiction, the influence of these people, positive or negative, can lead or prevent an individual from using drugs.

Drug use may thus be initiated by students as a sort of experience or rite of integration into a group of friends.

Faced with family and social tension, drug use can be seen as a way to decompress.

It can be considered by the patient as a solution that allows him to face the difficulties he encounters in his life and as a way to relax to better "hold on".

Finally, depression and stress are among the psychological disorders that can lead some people to drug addiction.
