« My Gap Year I would like to go to Chile for a full year, even though I would probably feel homesick in the beginning, I think I would enjoy such an experience because there are more pros than cons.

It is a joy and an enrichment to meet new people and to discover new cultures, of course I would have to save quite a lot of money but this too cans be exciting.

Indeed, getting money to achieve a dream.

But it is also an important transition from childhood to adulthood, from dependence to independence. I would visit my brother, he lives in a city in the north of Chile on the border with Peru called Arica.

It is also known as one of the driest cities in the world.

Between 1903 and 1918, there was not a drop of rain for 173 months.

It is nicknamed the “city of eternal spring”. I was going to stay in this city for about five or six months because it can bring me a lot of knowledge by staying with my brother and it can help me to integrate into the Chilean traditions.

Arica is known for surfing, big surfing competitions are held there Avery year, I would like to try.

Then I would like to go to the capital Santiago which is also the largest city of Chile, I could go to the Chascona, it is the old house of the poet Pablo Neruda which has become a museum and I plan to stay one month or two in the city. I would visit tour the country passing through the Atacama Desert, known to be one of the most arid regions on Earth, and then visit the many museums in the country and in the border countries. Last but not least, going abroad for a while is also the best way to learn a new language (Spanish). »
