« 1)Françoise Sinoussi is a French woman born in the 1st arrondissement of Paris in 1947 2)After obtaining her baccalaureate, Françoise Sinoussi undertook advanced studies in biology, where she obtained a Master degree in biochemistry and the “Diplôme d'Etudes Approfondies”.

In 1971, she joined the laboratory in the immunochemistry department of the Pasteur Institute. 3)During her research at the Pasteur Institute, she discovered in 1983, with the help of her collaborators, the retroactive virus called HIV, which gave rise to the AIDS disease 4) After her discovering, she set up research programmes on the viral determinants and hosts of HIV pathogenesis and she works on the modes of transmission of the virus from mother to child, on the innate mechanisms of infection regulation and on infections in monkeys caused by simian viruses. During 10 years, she participated in collective programmes on HIV vaccine research. In 2005, head of the Retroviral Infection Regulation Unit, also at the Institute Pasteur. In 2008, she focused her research to determine the mechanisms of protection against HIV infection or control of AIDS.

Moreover, in the same year, she is also President of the Scientific Council of ANRS and heads the ANRS research site in South-East Asia.
